14.2 A fairytale wedding
Summer 1997, Fairy Blossom event garden
"...I will love you, encourage you and cherish you, in health and sickness, through sorrow and success, for the rest of my life", Mae finished her vow.
Linda sat together with Brian on a bench in the first row. She had been torn appart between watching the ceremony, and Brian's pretty face. She never got tired of it.
"I'm so glad you could make it, Brian!", she whispered to him, when the couple in front of them had finished.
"Of course!", he replied whispering to her. "Your sister will get married only once!"
He had been unsure for a while before, because he hadn't known if he would be in the town or at a business meeting.
Linda was glad he could arrange it so he didn't had to go away today.
The couple finished the ceremony with a kiss.
This wasn't the church, so everyone applauded.
Mae had preferred to get married in a beautiful garden under the free sky instead.
When the guests started to rise and go to the dining area, Herbert took her hands once more.
"You look beautiful, Mae", he said.
A warm feeling rushed through Mae's face.
"Though... I don't know, I kinda expected some... bigger dress?", he added, somehow hesitantly.
Mae hadn't expect that.
"What is wrong with it - no, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!", something yelled inside Mae's head.
"...You don't like it?", she asked, trying to stay calm instead.
She didn't want to ruin her happy wedding day.
"I do! I think it fits you better", he replied and kissed her on her cheek.
"You just saved your ass...", Mae thought for a second.
But she decided he must have been honest.
Herbert didn't lie about things like that.
Herbert didn't lie about things like that.
Brian "Your sister will get married only once!"
ReplyDeleteWe hope Brian, we hope.
Herbert "Though... I don't know, I kinda expected some... bigger dress?"
*Open mouth, insert foot" If he was referring to her fashion sense, weight or a possible pregnancy, it wasn't good and not a way to start a marriage that already has one foot in the grave.
Well, that's the common expectation xD
DeleteHerbert was referring to something like this:

as they were in fashion in the 1990s. Mae's wedding dress is from her grandmother (1920s), therefore much simpler.
Oh well, his clumsiness shows again :D
I dunno Brian!
ReplyDeleteDon't count your chickens man!
He's old school! But maybe he's right?
DeleteThat was a weird thing to say.....oh well. Yes, he just saved his ass! Lol....
ReplyDeleteHe's got a talent for that xD
Deleteso beautiful until... weird statement. Gorgeous venue. I can't tell if Linda is more in love with Brian's face and Brian xD
ReplyDeleteHerbert, the master of clumsiness and weird statements XD He just avoided a wedding apocalypse XD
DeleteLinda lives sometimes in her own little world. She loves Brian's face, tho!
Herbert must've envisioned her dress being a resemblance to her big personality. But oh boy. How'd he managed to snag his first wife (who must be very pretty since Mariella is) I will never know!! At least all the women are kind and forgiving towards goofy lines and dorkiness. :D
ReplyDeleteLOL he probably did! 😂😂
DeleteI honestly have no idea how he got his first wife. I think they were childhood friends.
Uuuurghhhhh! Herbert is not winning any points there. Moron. I doubt he even loves Mae. Surely if a groom sees his bride on the wedding day and his response is anything other than his jaw dropping, it's a bad omen.
ReplyDeleteThey both don't seem to be too invested v.v
