1.8 Francesco De la Cruz - Love
Spring 1993, Diego's apartment

If he was honest, Francesco had really missed this.
Him.

He hadn't even realized how much, until he had run into him again earlier this day. At first Francesco was angry to see him, and he had to admit, a little scared. But Diego was alone, none of his "friends" were there.

Instead, Diego looked genuinely worried, and pulled Francesco into a tight hug.
"I've looked everywhere for you. I was so worried something happened to you...", he said, placing his lips on Francesco's neck.

And as much as Francesco's first instinct was to push him back, he softened in the familiar warmth of Diego's embrace. And all the repulse, bitterness and stupor that had build up inside him while he had tried to survive in this crazy city, crumbled down.

But he was still was angry at Diego.
So they went back into the bar, sat down and talked.

Francesco tried to bring up all his reasons to leave Diego, the controlling, isolation and... he didn't really know.

Outspoken, he realized how outrageous and stupid everything sounded. Just because things hadn't gone the way he had planned, his frustrations had been directed towards the only person here that always had cared for him – Diego. Strongly supported by the drug caused paranoia.
And Francesco felt bad for making Diego apologize for all the misunderstandings.

Now, despite being still angry at Suzette for breaking their deal to not tell Diego where he could find him, he was still glad.

Whatever had happened, Diego still loved him.

And Francesco still loved Diego.

  1. I had a feeling that it might be Diego but I didn't expect Franco to fall right back into his arms like that. It really shouldn't have surprised me as the victims in these types of relationships actually do have feelings for their attackers. The victims are so easily manipulated due to this. I wish this didn't happen because I really love Franco and I hate seeing him back with that bastard. However I understand why he did it.

I just hope that he is strong enough not to let Diego take full control of him and that he will stay away from the drugs.

  2. Franco spent a lot of mental energy on keeping himself together while being stressed out by the homelessness and later Suzette's abuse.
Meeting Diego who once had made him feel loved and safe, of course he falls back :c
Hopefully he still learned a few things while being on his own.

  3. I hate to see him fall in the same trap again. I'm really hoping it was just a moment's weakness on his part. It took all his will to escape Diego before, I'd like to believe he learned his lesson. If not, this is a huge step back.
On a brighter note, I'm sure Trip will like this chapter. :)

    1. It's hard to get out of the influence of a manipulative person, even more when feelings are involved. Franco had an idea, that's why he was so scared to meet Diego again. Now it happened, and he's back.
We'll see where he heads from now.

Haha! We'll see when she's caught up! c:

  6. Oh... my... goodness. Don't do that. Not now. Don't make me take back everything I've said about your former strength. I realize you've been all lonely and stuff but you've made such a great progress today! Don't screw everything up now!

  7. Ah... But this is realistic. It's hard to come out of an abusive relationship. There are too many fake good memories stacked against his one bad memory and all the uncertain ones in between are still classified as that -- uncertain. Support network is the most important. He needs one. Twenty. BAD.

    1. He does, poor boy, he had only bad experiences with people since he left, and compared to that, his relationship with Diego must have felt like heaven in flashback.
And it probably was all he could ever wish for in the beginning!

  8. Aww man, just when things were looking up for him, in comes the venus flytrap.

It's definitely a concern that he can't articulate what went wrong in their relationship and how Diego had harmed him, shows that he still has his claws in deep. Which is very believable, that's why people in abusive relationships keep going back to their ex all the time right? "Oh, he didn't really do anything that bad." "Oh, it's only because he cared for me."

I just hope that he manages to wise up to Diego's crap eventually.

Suzy may have finally talked, who knows, a mad woman can do so much.
And Franny, he's lonely, poor boy :(
it's easy to go back to someone you know when you're exhausted and alone.
