Retrospective: Paris - How we started

1.6 Francesco De la Cruz - The show is over
Spring 1993, Suzette's loft

Francesco was furious. He stormed up the stairs to Suzette's loft.

When he pushed the door open, he found her sitting on the sofa.
"What the hell does that mean, you won't let me go on tour?!", he yelled at her while opening the door.
He had just found out that he was not on the team. One of the members had told him in confidance that Suzette had prohibited it, or they would have taken him.

"Tiens! I didn't expect you that early", she said nonchalantly.

She stood up and came over to him.
"You're so upset, Bonbon", she said in her sickly sweet voice. "But do you really think I'll let you get away from here, before I got everything I wanted?"

"Not even you can decide alone about this", he said.
He knew that she had a lot of power when he agreed to their deal four months ago. But until today he didn't understand how much.
Suzette was more than just an agent, she was on the board of the biggest music production company of France. And therefore had a say in everything regarding the music industry here.

"Of course I can", she smiled.

She could do whatever she wanted. And he would never have a chance, unless she decided he had.
Francesco had learned the hard way that making it in music was not about talent. It was about who was lucky enough to get the marketing support to be successful.

"One word, one game, Bonbon, and you'll be in our newest project", she continued. 

"You would make such a great addition. You're really talented. And not only that, you fit the image of the dark, mysterious loner type so perfectly. With a hint of bad boy attitude..." she sighed.

Francesco realized he would be stuck here for a much longer time than he planned, if not even forever, to stay in the industry.

"Bonbon, you know there are so many more boys out there with a talent. And – more willing", Suzette said.
And eventually he would have to give in to her.

His stomach turned inside out.
"I am not anymore", he said.
Suzette gasped, when he pushed her to the side.

He grabbed his bag and guitar, and opened the door.

"What are you doing?! You'll never gonna make it without me!", Suzette yelled. She was so ugly when she was mad.

"Métetelo por el culo, pinche puta", he said.
He was done performing for her.
